Images of Newtown’s Past: Phil Keane Artist's Reception on Sunday

An artist’s reception for Phil Keane’s photography show, “Images of Newtown’s  Past,”  has been rescheduled  for Sunday, October  29, 1-3 pm at the Municipal Center, Primrose Street, Newtown. The show will be at the Municipal Center through October during office hours, 8:30-5:00. For this show the building will be open late on Wednesdays.

The photographs, all of Newtown, include his now iconic picture of the internally lit General Store and are printed on metal.

“It makes me think of the old fashioned  daguerreotype photographs,” the artist has said, “Seeing them on metal. But you have to get the right resolution.”

Although the photography Keane does is only part of what his studio, Blue Sky Farm Productions offers, it is his passion.

A veteran of New York City’s Madison Avenue and national TV ad campaigns, Phil finds his inspiration in the vintage buildings of Newtown, including some that have been torn down.

Included in the show are photographs of the ice formation on Taunton Pond.

The exhibit is part of the 2017 Newtown Arts Festival.
