Newtown police seek public's help to ID suspects who damaged and removed two diversity and inclusion progress pride flag signs at Trinity Church

Newtown Police report that on the morning of August 13, the Department responded to Trinity Church, 36 Main Street for the report of vandalism.
 
"It was reported that sometime during the overnight hours, unknown individual(s) damaged and removed two diversity and inclusion progress pride flag signs that were displayed on the Trinity Church welcome signs at the front and rear of the church property," police say.
 
Both signs remain missing but sustained obvious damage.
 
Anyone with information that may lead to identifying the suspect(s) in this crime is asked to contact the Newtown Police Department, (203)426-5841.
 
"We are saddened that this apparent national trend has found its way to our town and we are investigating the defacing of the Trinity Church's signs that are intended to symbolize inclusion as a hate crime.
