First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan hosts important Community Conversation with Sandy Hook Promise

Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 11:30am First Presbyterian Church will host a don’t-miss discussion – appropriate for children, youth and adults - about identifying the early warning signs and at-risk behaviors that, without intervention, could lead to violence.

Mary Wellander, an ambassador for Sandy Hook Promise will discuss how schools and youth organizations offer unparalleled opportunities to create inclusive supportive cultures that can improve mental health and well-being, school safety, and ultimately save lives. Participants will discuss social isolation, cyberbullying, and intervention; when it’s time “to say something” and when and how to use “anonymous reporting systems”.

The entire community is invited to participate in this timely discussion designed for children, youth and adults alike. Sandy Hook Promise (SHP) is a nonprofit, non-partisan organization led by several family members who lost loved ones at the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting on December 14, 2012. Based in Newtown, Connecticut with remote staff across the U.S., SHP’s mission is to create a culture engaged in preventing shootings, violence, and other harmful acts in schools.

First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan is located at 178 Oenoke Ridge Road. Please call the church office at (203) 966-0002 or visited www.fpcnc.org for more information or to register for any of the church programs.
