United Way of Western Connecticut Mobilizes Corporate Partners to Give Back in Northern Fairfield and Southern Litchfield Counties

United Way of Western Connecticut will engage more than 200 volunteers from a dozen corporate partners for its annual Day of Action on Wednesday, June 8, a day dedicated to outdoor community service projects throughout greater Danbury and greater New Milford.

Originally known as “Day of Caring,” this tradition began at United Way of Western Connecticut in 1994 with a mission to spread the value of volunteerism while increasing awareness of local human service agencies. Today, Day of Action bridges the gap between our donors and other nonprofit agencies by demonstrating the difference that an entire day of volunteerism can make in our communities.

Volunteers will be located at 18 different sites for 16 nonprofit agency partners, generating 1,590 hours of service for a total of more than $53,000 of volunteer contribution on a single day.

Volunteers will head to project sites at 10am and can be expected to complete approximately 5 hours of volunteerism.
