Girls and boys of all ages, build your pumpkin racers! And decorate your pumpkins too!
On Saturday, October 19th from 10 am to 1:30 pm, the Newtown Lions Club will hold the Great Pumpkin Race, behind Edmond Town Hall on Main Street.
We are very excited this year that Newtown Savings Bank is sponsoring this wonderful annual event that features pumpkin races and pumpkin decorating contests. It's always a fun time for participants and spectators alike. Kids will enjoy searching for prizes among the piles of hay in the Treasure Chest.
The Town and Country Garden Club will be setting up a table at the Great Pumpkin Race where they will be offering free pumpkin decorating crafts for children again this year. The children were thrilled last year to be taking home their own decorated pumpkins. The Garden Club will also have seasonal flower arrangements for sale.
Pumpkin races are held for three age groups (8 & under, 9-12, 13 & over). Pumpkins must have 4 wheels and 2 axles, both of which must pass through the pumpkin.
Decorated pumpkin contests are held for the same three age groups, with prizes awarded for the scariest, funniest, and best decorated pumpkins.
There will be food, music, entertainment, and a good time for all!
10:00 am - Registration opens ($5 per entry in the decorating and race contests)
11:00 am - Decorated pumpkin judging (Scariest, Funniest, Best Decorated) 11:30 am - Pumpkin races, 8 & under group
