Newtown Arts Festival Weekend is HERE!

The Newtown Arts Festival begins TODAY, Friday, September 17 with Alternate Routes, an American rock group, in concert. Formed in 2002, “The Alternate Routes is the band that helped is to remember “ ‘….we are how we treat each other, and nothing more.’” Tickets Are $25 for lawn seating and $35 for VIP Chair seating. The two-day Arts Festival will be Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19 from 11 am to 5 pm at Fairfield Hills, corner of Trades Lane and DG Beers Blvd, Newtown, CT.

The Wine and Beer Garden will be open during the concert. New this year, you will be able to take your wine or beer and sit at the concert. And, as always, food trucks will be there.

The Arts Festival will run Saturday and Sunday from 11-5pm on both days. The food trucks will be returning and The Wine and Beer Garden will be open.

More than 40 artisans, from woodturning to jewelry to jams and jellies, will be in the center of the Arts Festival.

There will be bands throughout both days and plenty of shade tents to sit and enjoy the music or your lunch.

Coming back is the Freeway, four tents plus the terrific Totes Tent that are activities and craft activities to see and do and for which there is no charge. The Dance Tent will have performances both days with a Master Class with Rockette Maddie Rodrigue on Sunday. The Make and Take Tent will have the legendary Cardboard University both days as well as different crafts, including Making Butterfly Puppets with the Festival’s feature performer, Sova Dance and Puppet Theater, on Sunday. SCAN (Society for Creative Arts in Newtown) will be demonstrating Plein-air painting on Saturday at The Art Oasis. On Sunday, The Art Oasis will have a Fiber Arts Demonstration and crafts and Sir Real Coloring will have its own tent for a cool break for the day.

Returning to the Arts Festival this year will be The Art of Science Tent. Both Saturday and Sunday, Everwonder Children’s Museum will be leading the activities from 11am-2pm with the Discovery Museum of Bridgeport taking over from 2-5 pm each day.

Arts Festival tickets can be purchased at the door visitors are encouraged to buy them early here.

Whether bought that day or remotely, the prices are $5 adults; $3 children ages 5 - 12; under age 5 is free. Cash, Credit or Debit Cards Accepted at the door. Credit and Debit cards accepted remotely. This site can also accept ticket sales for the Friday night concert.
