Upcoming Meeting Dates Relative to Proposed Police Department Project

First Selectman Dan Rosenthal would like the residents of Newtown to know that the proposed Newtown Police Department project will be discussed at the public meetings below with the intent of having all voters consider the project on the November 6, 2018 ballot.  The following meetings will be held in the Council Chamber of the Newtown Municipal Center and are open to the public:

August 6, 7:30 p.m.:  The Board of Selectmen will vote on the Mandatory 8-24 Referral to the Planning and Zoning Commission.

August 16, 7:30 p.m.: The Planning and Zoning Commission will consider the Mandatory 8-24 Referral.

August 20, 7:30 p.m.:  The Board of Selectmen will hold a joint meeting with the Board of Finance and the Legislative Council.  The design firm, Kaestle Boos, will present the police department project to the joint boards. Following the presentation it is expected that the Board of Selectmen will act on the appropriation.

August 23, 7:30 p.m.: The Board of Finance will discuss the project, and consider the appropriation, at their regular meeting.

August 29, 7:30 p.m.: The Legislative Council will have a special meeting to discuss the project and consider the appropriation.
