Senator Hwang, who currently represents the communities of Newtown and Sandy Hook, Connecticut in the CT General Assembly offers the following statement in remembrance and memorial of the 2012 Sandy Hook School Tragedy
On December 14, 2021, our community, state and nation will pause to memorialize those students and staff who were lost nine years ago. I’m sure most of you can remember exactly where you were when you learned about the unfathomable events that day, I will always remember it as a day of unimaginable sadness.
When recalling this time of tragedy, I want to offer my respect, support and appreciation to all members of the Newtown and Sandy Hook community who continue to heal from the emotionally traumatic impact of that unspeakable act of evil against humanity.
It is important to recognize that the Newtown community is so full of kindness and caring. So much good is being done in honor of those precious lives lost that day. Each day is a testament to the indefatigable spirit of Newtown’s resilient residents to be kind and strive to make a positive difference in people’s lives to honor those tragically lost.
