Nod Hill Brewery and The Hickories Team Up to Introduce First Run

Ridgefield CT. Refreshing, nutritious, and delicious…Nod Hill Brewery has collaborated with The Hickories Farm to produce “First Run”, Ridgefield’s first small batch seasonal seltzer made entirely from fresh maple, hickory, and oak sap. Farmers at the Hickories and brewers from Nod Hill have united boots and hands to tap trees, collect the first run of sap, and carbonate and preserve it in a can.

Said co-owner Rob Kaye, ‘We love working with community businesses so when Dina Brewster from the Hickories first suggested the collaboration, we thought it was a wonderful idea.” Brewster, whose family has owned The Hickories since the 1750s, explains that sap collecting is rooted in American tradition. “Anybody who makes maple syrup has dipped their finger into the sap bucket for a taste. The current craze for coconut and other flavored waters made the idea for producing First Run natural. We were excited about doing a local, lovingly-produced collaboration between two businesses who care about the community. “Added Brewster “Of course, this will probably be the first of many Nod Hill/Hickories collaborations, since there are several bushels of the Hickories’ peaches in Nod Hill’s freezer."

First Run is very limited edition, as it is a small batch seasonal product. 16oz cans are currently available in the taproom at Nod Hill Brewery, 137 Ethan Allen Hwy and The Hickories Farm Store, 136 Lounsbury Road, Ridgefield, CT.
