Yesterday’s storm hit Newtown very hard with nearly 80 roads blocked, or partially blocked, by downed trees and wires and roughly 2,400 homes without power.
While the focus is to get all power restored, Eversource has a list of priorities, which include addressing completely blocked roads so that emergency vehicles can gain access if needed. There are crews working throughout town.
If anybody needs to a warm place to charge phones or computers both the Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street, and the Senior Center, 14 Riverside Rd, Sandy Hook, are open today.
The Town of Newtown will continue to provide updates as necessary.
