The 3rd annual Newtown Holiday Decorating Contest is kicking-off and will be looking for houses decorated with winter lights to enter the contest sometime this month. There is no entry fee. This is a nondenominational contest and all winter decorating is welcome. If you would like to be a judge for picking the winners, join the Facebook group and sign up.
Seeing the lights from the safety and warmth of car is something that everyone from senior citizens to families with young children can enjoy. This is a free gift to the town by the town. Everyone may add friends and neighbors to this Facebook group. This is a fun and friendly competition for Holiday Lights. Again, there is no fee to enter, and I am asking that no houses put collection boxes, even for charity, at their homes. Let's just all do this for our town to enjoy- a contest that is truly coming from the heart.
Just one note from the Grinch- Newtown is huge. It takes hours on a bus to view all the homes entered. Please only enter if you go ALL-OUT with your decorating. Winners receive an outside barn star on a stick that they must give back when they take down their decorations, but will also be given a star-shaped ornament with “2018” painted on it as a keepsake.
