Town of Newtown Monday Storm Update: 600 Homes Without Power, Restoration by 2:00 pm Today

Important Information - Monday, January 21

At present roughly 5% (600 homes) of our community is without power. While not acceptable, it is down from 20% (2,300) last evening.

Eversource is presently focusing on a 6 outage areas representing approximately 350 outages as follows: Berkshire Road (140 homes), Grays Plain (99), Old Road (38), Little Brook (35), Hattertown (27) and Currituck (19).

Restoration to these areas is expected by 2:00 today.

The Emergency Management Team will be meeting throughout the day and will make additional updates as necessary. Newtown’s First Selectman and the Emergency Management Office continue to urge residents to be safe and stay informed.

Safety First

Avoid the use of candles due to the risk of fire if left unattended Do not use outside cooking equipment inside Keep generator exhaust away from residence

Stay away from power lines Residents can come to locations listed below to seek relief/assistance

Warming Station/Cell phone/electronic equipment charging/WiFi

The Municipal Center, located at Fairfield Hills will be open Monday from 9am to 5pm.
