Newtown Parks and Recreation is seeking two Assistant Swim Team Coaches!

The Newtown Parks and Recreation Torpedoes swim team is seeking two energetic, driven and personable assistant swim team coaches to join the staff.
 
The Newtown Torpedoes are a member of the Yankee league, made up of 11 teams from West Haven, Oxford, Seymour, New Milford, Trumbull, Watertown, Naugatuck, Plainville, Bristol, Madison and Newtown! The competition season is broken up into the regular dual meet season and the championship post season. Previous competitive coaching experience/participation is strongly recommended, as well as strong administrative, organizational and computer skills. Knowledge of Hy‐Tek swimming software is preferred. Must have the ability to help keep records, and manage a website.
 
The Fall/Winter 2020/2021 practices will be held at the Newtown High School Pool, between the hours of 5:30pm and 7:30pm, Monday through Thursday, and some occasional Fridays. The Torpedoes meets begin in November are held on Saturdays. You must also attend a parent meeting prior to the season start in September.
 
General Duties:
Maintaining a high level of communication with Parks and Recreation staff, fellow coaches and swim team parents. You must be able to answer questions pertaining to all levels of the swim team and assist the head coach in running daily practices and assist in the operation of all home meets.
 
Requirements:
‐ Certified American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR/First Aid
‐ Ability to work well with all ages, especially 6 through 15 years
‐ Ability to assist in development and improvement of technique and ability
‐ Organize and run practices with some swim team experience
 
Salary commensurate with experience.
