Planning a Trip Abroad? Know Before You Go (and Visit RVNAhealth Community Health Nurses)

It is travel season! While it may be exciting to travel to exotic locales and have adventures, it is crucial to know which precautions to take before boarding your flight such as: recommended or required vaccines, safe food and water practices, insect precautions, documents needed, and environmental considerations.

At RVNAhealth we have Community Health Nurses that can help you with all your traveling needs and concerns. When you book a consultation, one of our nurses will walk through your itinerary and advise you on what precautions and preparations are recommended for a safe trip.

It is recommended that you schedule your consultation at least two months before your departure date. This ensures that our nurses have time to review your itinerary and medical records, research immunizations and other health considerations, and give recommendations based on your specific needs. Traveling with others who may need vaccines? Ask about adding people to your consultation when booking!

Upon arriving at your consultation, please bring a list of medications/supplements you are taking, a trip itinerary (if visiting more than one country), and immunization records.

If vaccines are required or recommended for your trip, a nurse can schedule you an appointment for one of our travel vaccine clinics, held in our Ridgefield office every first and third Friday of the month!

Wherever you plan to relax or have an adventure this summer and beyond, stay safe and travel well.
