Whip Salon Announces First Franchise Location to Open in Sandy Hook

Whip Salon Coming Soon to Newtown - Get Ready to Fall in Love with Your “Whip”

Monday, June 3rd, 2019 -- (Newtown, CT) Whip Salon is pleased to announce it will be opening its doors for a third location in Newtown this July. The popular, high-end full service beauty salon offers haircuts, color services, blowout memberships and makeup services with locations in Ridgefield and Westport. The salon caters to ladies, men and kids too and is delighted to be joining the Sandy Hook community.

Whip Salon will be located in the heart of Sandy Hook, taking over the space which has been occupied by Sandy Hook Hair Company on Church Hill. Owner of Sandy Hook Hair Company, Bonnie Fredericks, will be staying on to be a part of the Whip Salon squad and welcomes the change. “It’s been such a treat to have run my successful salon for so many years, but it’s time for a change,” said Fredericks. “I’m thrilled to continue doing what I love and I fully support Marcelle. I’m looking forward to something new and think Whip Salon will really take off.”

Whip Salon’s First Franchise

Entrepreneur Marcelle Tiffany, a Bethel native has been employed by Whip Salon Ridgefield for more than a year, is the new franchise owner of Whip Salon Newtown. Tiffany brings experience with start-up businesses as well as a cosmetology background. This unique cross section of skills makes her uniquely qualified for her new leadership role.

Tiffany graduated from the Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology in Danbury in 2009 and started her career working in various local salons. In 2011 she took time off for maternity leave (now the mother of 4 and 8 year old girls) and refocused her career to open a juice bar/cafe in Bethel in 2013 which she managed and then sold in 2015. Yearning to get back into the beauty industry, she returned to working “behind the chair” as a stylist and eventually made her way to Whip Salon.

“When I started looking for a new salon company I came across Whip Salon and it immediately resonated with me,” said Tiffany. “I loved everything about the salon from its polished media presence and modern marketing approach to its hyper-focus on client satisfaction. It felt like home.”

“It’s a special place. The Whip Salon culture is based on positivity and everyone is committed to continuing education, supporting one another and being the best we can be as individuals and collectively,” said Tiffany. “It’s truly a wonderful place to work and I knew early on that I wanted to be a part of the “Whip Salon” movement so when the opportunity came along to franchise, I seized it.”

“I am especially excited to bring Whip Salon to the beautiful town of Sandy Hook. There’s nothing more magical than to be a part of a community who’s unity and strength is so commendable,” said Tiffany.

Behind the Name Whip Salon

The meaning behind the edgy name is founder Amy Pal’s brainchild. “Whip, simply put, is a slang term for hair. It’s a nod to a carefree time when I was just out of college, my friends and I used to call our hair our “whip.” I thought it had such a playful ring to it that would set us apart in a landscape of predictable names,” said Pal.
