Go On! Switch Up Your Hairstyle: Getting Older Does Not Have to Mean Looking Dated
As we get older, at any age, we tend to question our personal style. It's natural to evolve your style from time to time with your lifestyle and your tastes as they change. We asked Master Stylist Meg from Whip Salon Newtown how she keeps her clients feeling good about themselves at any and every age.
WS: How often do you find that clients like to switch up their hair, generally speaking?
Meg: There's certainly a wide range when it comes to a client's approach to hairstyles and being open to radical change. I have some clients that like to change things up constantly with every visit, like clockwork seasonally or almost never. But I do recommend that clients consider switching things up from time to time. Hair is just hair, which means it'll grow and you can try something different. I mean, why not?
WS: How do you keep your long term clients feeling fresh and sassy at any age?
Meg: Well, first of all, they have to know that it is okay to have some fun no matter what your age is. Honestly, there's nothing cooler than a short do with some grey in it as long as it's cut properly. I would also recommend trying something sassy with color to shake things up, highlights are great but vivids have become popular too. I encourage them to embrace their texture because it's critical that whatever we do they are able to have easy upkeep when they are styling at home.
WS: How do you get someone comfortable that is considering a big change?
Meg: We always start with deep-dive through the consultation, I really try to listen to what is important to the client. If someone is feeling stuck in a rut I try to help them get out of their comfort zone with suggestions. My favorite thing is delivering something sharp that is tailored just to them and seeing that smile at the end of the service. That's what it's all about.
