Whip Salon announces expansion plans for a new corporate location and will open its doors on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina in January 2022. It will be its fourth salon location, and the first outside Fairfield County Connecticut. Whip Salon is a full-service salon that also offers blowout memberships, spa and makeup services.
Whip Salon first launched in Ridgefield, CT in 2016 and is known for its dedication to client satisfaction, top talent and “hip” brand. The salon is unique because although it was conceptualized from a client’s perspective, it has built a culture and brand that appeals to both clientele and staff alike.
Hilton Head Island was ranked the #1 island in the US by Condé Nast Traveler magazine in 2021 and is widely known as a world class golf destination, in particular for the Heritage Classic PGA Golf tournament held annually in April. It’s renowned for its pristine beaches and is a popular tourist and wedding destination. However, Hilton Head also has a vibrant, affluent local community and seemed to be an ideal location for the next Whip Salon.
“While this new location might seem like a bit of a departure, it just happened organically,” said Amy Pal, Founder of Whip Salon. “During the pandemic, my family spent a lot of time on HHI since our kids were attending school remotely. We bought some property here and got to know the market. When this opportunity came up, I jumped at it because I think HHI is an excellent location and fit for our brand.”
Pal had been focusing on franchising the Whip Salon brand when the pandemic hit. Whip Salon Newtown is a franchise location, while she owns Ridgefield and Westport as corporate locations. Although franchising is still a way Pal plans to grow, she is currently working on opening more corporate locations of her own.
“The pandemic was very challenging but Whip Salon made it through and is now doing better than ever,” said Pal, “We have been around for five years now with proven operational systems, talented staff and loyal clients. I believe it’s a formula we can continue to replicate and I feel very optimistic about the future.”
Whip Salon HHI is a 1800 square foot salon with room for up to 12 stylist stations, 4 sinks and 1 treatment room. It’s situated just outside the entrance to Sea Pines Plantation, an exclusive gated community on the island.
“Hilton Head is a terrific spot for a Whip Salon, but the market there is different in some ways to that of Fairfield County,” said Pal. “It will be a fun challenge to tap into this opportunity in a different way.”
