Newtown Municipal Election Voter Information


Newtown Town Clerk, Debbie Aurelia Halstead, advises Newtown voters that absentee ballots are available for the Municipal Election to be held in Newtown on November 7, 2017. 

Any qualified registered voter may vote by absentee if unable to vote in person at the polls during the hours of 6am to 8pm Election day.

Special hours for absentee voting will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9am to 12pm at the Town Clerks Office.

Absentee Ballot Requests

An absentee ballot may be applied for by any qualified registered voter unable to vote due to the following reasons:

  • Illness or physical disability
  • Absence from town during all election hours
  • Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
  • Serving as an election official at a polling place other than your own
  • Active service in the Armed Forces

Military or Overseas Voters may register to vote and/or apply for an absentee ballot by completing aFederal Post Card Application (FPCA).
