Town of Newtown Announces FEMA Declaration for May 15 Storm

The Newtown Emergency Management Office and the Leadership of the Town of Newtown received confirmation of federal funds for the May 15th storm from the office of Governor Dannel P. Malloy. 

Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that his request for a major disaster declaration in connection with the May 15 tornadoes that impacted parts of the state has been approved for public assistance for New Haven and Fairfield Counties. The Governor’s request for assistance for individuals remains under review.

Rob Sibley, Deputy Director of Emergency Management is the identified personnel responsible for local Disaster Recovery said; “This is a good step towards Newtown’s recovery process. The announcement identifies the recognition of the storm and the level of damage it inflicted on Newtown and its citizens.”
