On May 30, 2017 at 8:55 a.m., Vehicle #1 pulled over to the right shoulder on a sweeping right curve on the I-84 E/B Exit 11 ramp. Operator #1 the exited his vehicle. Vehicle #2 was approaching Vehicle #1's location. Vehicle #2 then struck Vehicle #1 and Operator #1.
Operator #1 sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS personnel.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Modzelewski's.

Mauskapf pulled his vehicle over to the right shoulder and stopped on a sweeping right curve on the I-84 eastbound exit 11 ramp. Mauskapf had exited his vehicle when Vitti approached. Vitti’s vehicle fatally struck Mauskapf. Through the course of the investigation, troopers determined that Vitti became distracted (not cellphone) while operating his vehicle and traveled into the right shoulder where he struck both Mauskapf and Mauskapf’s vehicle.
