Newtown Police Charge Local Juvenile with Possession of Controlled Substance and Intent to Sell

Newtown Police **Crime Alert**

On 7/25/2018 at 11:23pm Newtown Police stopped a vehicle traveling down Church Hill Rd with no headlights on.

Upon stopping the vehicle, Sgt. Matthew Wood detected an odor of alcohol coming from the car. The driver and the four juvenile occupants in the vehicle were under the age of 18.

An investigation led to the arrest of the juvenile operator who resides in Newtown and the seizure of a large number of prescription pills and other controlled substances.

The juvenile was charged with the following charges:

  • Illegal possession of a controlled substance
  • Possession with intent to sell a controlled substance Possession with intent to sell a hallucinogenic substance Possession of drug paraphernalia.

"This was a great arrest by an alert patrol sergeant, who is also a Drug Recognition Expert, Sgt. Wood's efforts removed over 1000 Xanax pills and a large quantity of Molly crystal rock from a drug dealers hands and off the streets in Newtown" police spokesman Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.

"This investigation is ongoing and the juvenile's vehicle has been seized and police will work with the Danbury prosecutors office to seek the forfeiture of the drug dealers car and his cash.
