**Serious Accident Update**
On Friday evening at about 5:40pm, Newtown Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident on Berkshire Road (RT34) at its intersection with Sherman Street involving a car and motorcycle.
The motorcyclist, Joseph Romeo Jr, age 42, of Monroe CT, had been traveling eastbound on Berkshire Road, on a 2002 Harley Davidson, when a 2015 Honda Civic driven by a 17 year old juvenile female of Sandy Hook CT, exited Sherman Street as the motorcycle approached and the two vehicles collided.
Romeo was thrown from the motorcycle. Romeo was transported to Danbury Hospital by Newtown Ambulance for serious injuries. The female operator was not injured.
Sandy Hook Fire Rescue responded and assisted on scene.
The Newtown Traffic Crash Reconstruction unit responded and is investigating this accident.
