Newtown Police Investigate Vehicle Thefts, Suspect Part of Organized Gang

The Newtown Police is investigating the report of a stolen car from the driveway of a residence on Indian Hill Rd. The vehicle is to believe to have been taken at about 2:30am his morning. The vehicle was unlocked with the keys inside. The stolen vehicle is a 2017 silver Honda CR-V.

During the course of the past few weeks, Newtown Police Department has investigated several vehicle break ins during the day. We are happy to report that the suspects have been identified and arrested in New Jersey. The suspects are part of an organized gang that targets the entire east coast of the US, moving state to state in a rental car.

In every stolen vehicle from Newtown and the surrounding towns, the stolen vehicles, all had the keys in the vehicle. Please remember to lock it, take your valuables, take your keys.

Just this week Newtown Police arrested Kevin Santos, age 22, on an outstanding arrest warrant. Santos was charged with Larceny in the 2nd after his DNA was found in a recovered stolen car from Newtown. The car was stolen from a residence on Walnut Tree Hill Rd. back in October of 2018.
