Newtown SRO's Monckton and Chapman Arrest Ohio Man for Risk of Injury to a Child, Enticing a Minor by Computer

On Monday, March 29, Newtown SRO's Monckton and Chapman went to Sandusky, Ohio to take into custody Gregory Voltz, age 34, of Sandusky Ohio, where he resided, on an outstanding arrest warrant from Connecticut.

Voltz waived extradition and was brought here to the Newtown Police Department where he was formally charged with Risk of Injury to a child and Enticing a Minor by computer.

Voltz was held overnight on a $300,000 court set bond and was brought to Danbury Court this morning for arraignment.

The investigation was initiated after police received a complaint from the parents of a child that Voltz had engaged in sexual activity with their child using a social media app.

The investigation was led by SRO Monckton and took several months of multiple and various investigative steps to identify Voltz as the offender.

"SRO Monckton did an outstanding job, in a very difficult investigation, which required multiple search warrants and computer forensics, to identify the true identity of the perpetrator of these computer crimes, SRO Monkton was dogged in this investigation and for that was able to bring Voltz to justice," said Lt. Aaron Bahamonde.

"We also can not say enough about the cooperation our Department received from the officers of the Sandusky Police Department who tracked and apprehended Voltz on our warrant," he added.
