Today is Cinco de Mayo - or in other words, May, 5th. We celebrate today to remember the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla. This was one of Mexico's early victories against the French for their independence. The battle occurred on May 5th, 1862. Contrary to popular belief, Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's independence day. Today Cinco de Mayo is celebrated not only in remembrance of this small but meaningful victory, but also to celebrate Mexico's colorful culture and heritage.
