Fulfill Your Lego Building Marine Dreams at the Maritime Aquarium

Help create an enormous ocean scene using everyone’s favorite building blocks during “LEGO® Weekend” Jan. 27 and 28 in The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

Throughout both days, LEGO experts from Play-Well TEKnologies will engineer a big fun project made entirely out of LEGO blocks in Newman’s Own Hall (near the seals).

The experts will create the underwater environment, but it needs animals! Aquarium guests can build a small LEGO marine creature that will be part of the finished piece. Choose from such creatures as a jellyfish, seal, shark, stingray, turtle, fish and more.

Also during “LEGO Weekend,” Aquarium guests can build motorized LEGO machines that will duel for superiority on LEGO Battletracks.

All of this thoughtful LEGO construction pairs neatly with the IMAX® movie “Dream Big,” playing at noon & 2 p.m. both days on the Aquarium’s six-story screen. The first giant-screen film with a STEM focus, “Dream Big” spotlights some of the world’s engineering marvels – old and new – and follows several young engineers determined to overcome challenges and solve problems.

The “LEGO Weekend” activities – and “Dream Big,” or any of the 40-minute daily IMAX movies playing between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. – are included with Aquarium admission: $22.95 for adults; $20.95 for youths (13-17) & seniors (65+); and $15.95 for children (3-12). Kids under 3 get in for free.
