April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. We want to take this opportunity to remind drivers to keep their hands on the wheel and off their phone while driving. Staying distracted-free while operating a vehicle can save lives.
Cell phone use is the most common form of distracted driving and can cause accidents and even deaths on the road.
Below are several tactics you can use to stay focused on the road and practice distracted-free driving:
Instead of texting while driving, pull your car over to a safe location to then send a text or have a passenger respond to your texts or calls for you.
* Avoid multitasking like eating, adjusting mirrors, playing with the radio, etc.
* Put your cell phone on do not disturb mode.
* Stay off roads if you are feeling drowsy or tired.
* Make a pledge not to drive distracted and remind those in your community of the harms of distracted driving.
