In honor of the recently declared Summer Meals Month, Mayor Rilling and the Norwalk Health Department partnered with Norwalk Public Schools, End Hunger Connecticut, and many local volunteers this past weekend to raise awareness about Norwalk’s Summer Meal Program.
The Summer Meal Program, federally funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and administered locally by Norwalk Public Schools, provides children 18 years of age and under with free, nutritious summer meals, no questions asked. This program offers a vital opportunity to reduce hunger, combat summertime food insecurity, and support overall health over the summer when school is not in session. Norwalk has 12 open meal sites serving free breakfast and lunch during the week now through mid-August.
