Chaz and AJ host annual Toy Drive on December 8

Connecticut’s most popular morning team, Chaz and AJ, heard locally on 99.1 WPLR and 95.9 the FOX, are taking their show to Jordan’s Furniture New Haven for their yearly toy drive Friday, December 8th.

The “Chaz and AJ McDermott Chevrolet and Lexus of New Haven Toy Drive” morning drive broadcast will start at 6am ending at 10am. Entrance to the event is free with a donation of an unwrapped toy valued at $25 (or cash donation).

This year the show includes performances from national recording artists Foghat and Finger Eleven, as well as local youth school and band, Rock House, and regional favorite The Rum Runners. The show will also include local celebrities, political dignitaries including Governor Ned Lamont and US Senator Richard Blumenthal, plus the usual Chaz and AJ shenanigans that their fans know and love.

A moment that will likely be talked about for years to come will feature Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim and mayoral candidate John Gomes, putting aside their national news-making political rivalry and performing a duet of “I Got You Babe,” by Sonny and Cher. Both candidates agreed to join up to help provide a better holiday for children in need.

“We live in the richest state in in the richest country in the world,” Chaz said, “no kid should go without around the holidays.”

The toys will be immediately distributed to Boys and Girls Village, Inc, Boys and Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Central Connecticut Coast YMCA, McGivney Community Center, TEAM, Inc., and the Center for Family Justice, Inc.

“Truly the biggest event we do all year. It hits all the tentpoles. Real fun for the audience in person. Great to listen to on the air. And, most importantly, we raise thousands of dollars for local kids during the holiday season,” said Vice President of Programming Keith Dakin, “Chaz and AJ always make this a great show and this year should be better than ever”.
