Make a Difference While Giving Back to Your Community

NORWALK, Conn. – The Norwalk Health Department (NHD) Emergency Response Team (ERT) plays a vital role in public health emergency preparedness and community wellness efforts, and now you can be part of this impactful team!

The NHD is seeking adults (18+) who live or work in the Norwalk area to volunteer for the ERT. This team includes both medical and non-medical professionals who generously donate their time and expertise to:

  • Prepare for and respond to emergencies.
  • Promote healthy living year-round.

Why Join the Emergency Response Team?

ERT volunteers help expand the capabilities of the Health Department staff by:

  • Spreading preparedness messages within the community.
  • Assisting with public health programs and events.
  • The Health Department provides training and insurance, while volunteers bring their unique skills and dedication.

Winter 2025 Training Session

  • Orientation: Late January 2025.
  • Training Dates: Four mandatory sessions on consecutive Wednesdays (February 5, 12, 19, and 26), from 7–9 PM.
  • Location: Norwalk Health Department, 137 East Avenue.
