Wegmans Norwalk Hosts Hiring Event for Student Positions Ahead of Grand Opening

Nearly 20 years ago, Emily Gee began her Wegmans career as a part-time cashier at the company’s Auburn, New York store. Today, she’s preparing to open Wegmans’ first location in Connecticut as the store manager of the new Norwalk supermarket.

“Looking back, I never could have imagined what my part-time job would become,” said Gee. “Wegmans has provided me with so many opportunities to learn and grow, while also helping me pursue my passions and attain my college degree. I’m excited to show local students how we can help them develop their skills or even create a career with the company.”

To support this next generation of workers, Wegmans is hosting a hiring event on Saturday, May 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wegmans Norwalk Hiring Office, located at 40 Richards Ave., Suite 220 in Norwalk, CT. The company is seeking part-time employees aged 16 and older to join its team ahead of the store’s official opening on Wednesday, July 23 at 9:00 a.m.

Available positions include part-time roles in customer service, stocking, cashiering, and more. Job seekers are encouraged to apply online in advance, though walk-in applicants will also be interviewed on the spot. For more information, applicants can contact the hiring office directly at 203-299-3333.

The Norwalk store, a 92,000-square-foot supermarket located at 675 Connecticut Avenue, will employ approximately 500 people—most of whom will be new to the company and hired locally. Positions offer competitive pay, starting at $17 per hour, with regular increases and premium pay on Sundays and holidays for all hourly employees.

Wegmans is widely recognized as one of the top employers in the country, offering flexible scheduling, robust healthcare and life benefits, a 401(k) plan with up to 6% company matching, and an employee scholarship program available to both full- and part-time employees. The company promotes from within and has future store openings planned in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and North Carolina.

Wegmans has been named one of Fortune®’s "100 Best Companies to Work For" for 28 consecutive years, earning the #6 spot in 2025. It also ranks as the #1 Best Workplace in Retail, was recognized as a Best Workplace for Parents, and was named to PEOPLE’s 2024 “Companies That Care” list.

Wegmans Norwalk is more than just a grocery store—it’s a place where students can begin a journey, just as Emily Gee once did.
