Person-to-Person Hosting Annual Winter Coat Drive in Norwalk

Person-to-Person (P2P), in coordination with the Office of the Mayor in Norwalk, and Beiersdorf Inc., the US affiliate of global skincare company Beiersdorf AG, with  deep roots in the Norwalk community, is hosting its Annual Winter Coat Drive.

Residents of Norwalk and surrounding communities are being asked to drop off new or gently-used winter coats and jackets now through November 6 at the P2P Norwalk location (76 South Main Street) anytime Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.

The Annual Coat Drive benefits individuals in the Greater Norwalk area who may not have the financial resources to provide cold weather gear for themselves or their children. Last year P2P distributed more than 1,000 winter coats and jackets and they anticipate increased demand this year. For information about hosting a coat drive or donating items, please contact Steve Callow, Assistant Norwalk Site Manager for P2P, at stevecallow@p2phelps.org or (203)621-0723.

All donations will be sorted by volunteers – including members of the Beiersdorf Cares Team – for distribution to the public on Saturday, November 9 from 9 am to 1 pm in the Community Room of the Norwalk Police Department. No registration is necessary. Norwalk Mayor Harry Rilling, state Senator Bob Duff, and state Representative Lucy Dathan are all scheduled to attend in support of the initiative.

During the year, the Beiersdorf community takes part in several local initiatives designed to help people in Norwalk and throughout Fairfield County. According to Denise Zenevitch, HR Operations Specialist, “The Annual Coat Drive benefits many people in the Norwalk area who do not have the resources to purchase winter coats and jackets. Beiersdorf employees understand the importance of this effort and are proud to contribute to its success each year.  From collecting and donating winter outerwear, preparing the shopping racks with the donations and distributing to those who are in need, our employees make a difference.  Caring for our community is fundamental to our core values.”
