Clients and volunteers from STAR, Inc, will be delivering food donations to Person-to-Person’s Norwalk food pantry. This is part of a year-long MLK Day of Service collaboration led by STAR, partnering with Person-to-Person and Open Doors.
This project is aimed at addressing hunger in our community and creates an opportunity for STAR clients to volunteer to meet the need.
Local businesses are participating by hosting food collections throughout the year. STAR clients will pick up and deliver donated food to P2P’s food pantries every month, building on P2P and STAR’s long-standing partnership.
STAR recently received a $10,000 grant from The Arc-US and Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) to create a collaborative program between STAR and community partners, Open Doors and Person-to-Person, to address local food insecurity and hunger. This new STAR initiative will honor the work of Dr. Martin Luther King on this 25th Anniversary of the MLK Day of Service with the intention of making it a sustainable effort and mindset that lasts 24-7-365.
