Connecticut Food Bank to Distribute Turkeys in Norwalk on Monday, November 9

Drive-through distribution at Veteran’s Memorial Park will have 1,500 turkeys

Connecticut Food Bank will offer a turkey distribution Monday, November 9, in Norwalk, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 42 Seaview Avenue. This will be a drive-through, contactless distribution and turkeys will be limited to one per vehicle. This will be a turkeys-only distribution.

The distribution is held in cooperation with the City of Norwalk and will be staffed by volunteers from Connecticut Food Bank and the Norwalk Emergency Response Team. “We are grateful to Lamond Daniels, Chief of Community Services for the City of Norwalk, for helping with food distributions we have been offering in the City for the last several months,” said Connecticut Food Bank Chief Operating Officer Daniel Gomez. “The distributions have been an important supplement to food distributed throughout the area by the local food assistance programs in the Connecticut Food Bank network.”

Mr. Gomez said, “the generosity of our donors has enabled Connecticut Food Bank to spend twice as much to purchase turkeys this year as it did last year,” in an effort to increase availability due to the pandemic. “Operating challenges caused by the pandemic required us to distribute turkeys to our network earlier and we sincerely appreciate all the hard work and effort our agencies have made to support this effort,” Mr. Gomez said.

Connecticut Food Bank continues to raise funds that will support the purchase, transportation, storage, and redistribution of food throughout its network of 500 food access points.

“The Coronavirus pandemic continues to have a strong impact here in Connecticut,” Mr. Gomez said. “We know more households will need help through the holidays and beyond.”

Frozen turkeys will be distributed on Monday, November 9, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, in Norwalk at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 42 Seaview Avenue. Distribution is drive-through and contactless and on a first-come, first-served basis. 1,500 turkeys will be distributed and distribution is limited to one turkey per vehicle. This will be a turkeys-only distribution.
