Strive for the Gold Weekend at the Maritime Aquarium

Amid the world competition occurring in Pyeongchang, South Korea, there also are medals to be won Feb. 17-19 during “Strive for the Gold Weekend” at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk.

The Aquarium’s special offering for the three-day President’s Day Weekend, “Strive for the Gold” invites guests – especially children – to take part in bonus activities, some of which test their athleticism in comparison to those of aquatic animals. Can you hop farther than a frog? Can you leap as high as a seal?

Plus, grab a stick for the chance to shoot a puck past an “octopus” goalie.

Complete all the challenges and earn a “Strive for the Gold” medal. And be sure to bring your camera for a fun “photo opp” at the medals-ceremony podium.

“While they’re all in good fun, the activities also are meant to get guests thinking about the special adaptations that aquatic animals have that help them to survive,” said Dave Sigworth, the Aquarium’s associate director of communications.

All “Strive for the Gold Weekend” activities are free with Aquarium admission. For full details, go online to maritimeaquarium.org.
