Norwalk Seaport Association's "Docktails & Oysters" fundraiser scheduled for June 23

Who doesn't enjoy cocktails on the dock? The Norwalk Seaport Association will be holding their first “Docktails & Oyster” fundraiser on Saturday, June 23 from 5pm to 7pm. It's a luau-themed event that takes place at Norm Bloom & SonOyster Company along the entrance of the Norwalk harbor.

“This is an effort to get people to know the Seaport Association a little bit better by bringing them down to our shoreline, learn a little about our important oyster industry and to have a little fun by breaking out their Hawaiian shirts” said Jim Keenan, event director and Seaport Association trustee.

The event gives attendees a unique opportunity to experience a real oyster farm while enjoying luau themed cocktails from the Blind Rhino in Norwalk designed especially for this event and decadent Hawaiian themed food from Harbor Harvest of Norwalk. They also enjoy the sounds of a ukulele trio plus experience the blessing of the Sheffield Island Ferry. “Of course, we'll have a raw bar with clams & oysters about 10 feet away from the boat they came off from” added Keenan.

Docktails & Oysters is limited to just 120 ticket holders and is expected to sell out quickly. Tickets are $75 per person and available online at www.Seaport.org. The event supports the efforts of the 40 year old Norwalk Seaport Association that includes the historic preservation of the Sheffield Island Lighthouse which turns 150 years old this year. The association also preserves and maintain Sheffield Island which is home to the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge and the maritime heritage of Norwalk. Their ferry provides a cultural, environmental and historical journey to the Norwalk Islands most notably Sheffield Island.
