Norwalk Poetry Workshop Starts Mon, May 20th

Your new Norwalk Poet Laureate, Bill Hayden, is starting a twice monthly poetry workshop on May 20th at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the main branch of the Norwalk Public Library at 1 Belden Avenue, Norwalk.

Writers and readers and appreciators of poetry are all welcome!  We meet to read original works or poems we love to share, and allow for feedback on poems in a supportive setting for the encouragement of the poetic craft.

At the first workshop, held in the 2nd Floor Carnegie Room, we'll discuss what the new name for this workshop should be, and toss around some ideas about format, for example, would we want to invite established poets to read as a featured poet at the beginning of some of the workshops, and would we want to try our hand at writing a new poem in response to a theme prompt for the following workshop's meeting.  Also, we could focus on one or another of the many poetic forms that can provide a structure for a poem's content.

Ideas and comments are welcome, and may be emailed to: poet_laureate@norwalkpl.org

Looking forward to our first workshop this coming Monday!

Bill Hayden
