CT Veterans Day Patriot Race and Celebration to be held Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 9:45 a.m.

Veterans will be honored and remembered at the CT Veterans Day Patriot Race held at Patriots Park, 172 Lake Street, Coventry. Everyone from the competitive runner, recreation runner, and walkers and are welcome. And for the younger patriots, we offer the Junior Patriot Race with a ½ mile run or a 50-yard dash for the children (shirts and swag bags are guaranteed to the first 50 registered) The Junior race begins at 9:15 a.m.

“This is more than just a road race. Our event honors the service and sacrifice of Connecticut’s many veterans.” said Peter DePaola, Race Director and veteran himself. “The proceeds from the race will go directly to five different veteran organizations in CT.”

On-line registration is open until November 8th for the 4-mile race and 3-mile walk or 3-mile ruck. The first 200 registered participants will receive a long sleeve commemorative shirt and a swag bag.

The USATF certified 4-mile course will start and end at Patriots Park; which is directly across from the State of Connecticut’s Vietnam Memorial. It’s a great warm-up for the Thanksgiving Manchester Road Race.

The opening ceremony begins at 9:45 a.m. with the UConn ROTC Color Guard and the UConn group “Rubyfruit A Cappella” singing the National Anthem. The race will start promptly at 10 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.

The “Canteen” will be open at 10:30 and offer Hotdogs and homemade chili prepared by the local American Legion.

Participants are urged to come early for good parking and the opportunity to spend some time with local veterans and enjoy the military displays in the Park sponsored by the CT Army National Guard.
