Bill Staines Returns to The Good Folk Coffeehouse Sun, Dec. 1st 4:00 pm

Please come on out two weeks from this Sunday, December 1st, to hear the legendary Bill Staines, as he adds a few more miles to the 3 million plus that he's logged over a lifetime of performances and songwriting that has garnered him the love and loyalty of his countless fans. Here is a link to Bill's website: https://www.acousticmusic.com/staines/index.htm

Anyone not familiar with the music of Bill Staines is in for a special treat. The Good Folk Coffeehouse is proud to welcome Bill back again, this time performing on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, his “regular” spot in our schedule for somewhere around 15 years in a row (but who’s counting?). Come and join Bill’s fans and sing along on the choruses of his songs we’ve come to know and love over the years.

A Good Folk Coffeehouse favorite, Bill is a left-handed neo-traditional troubadour who, on a right- handed guitar, played upside down, creates perfectly crafted songs that everyone wants to sing along with or turn into a book! Bill's song, "A Place In The Choir", which became an illustrated book, resonates with all age groups. The Irish group, Celtic Thunder, performed Staines' song in a PBS concert. To date, the videos from that single song have registered over five million views on YouTube.

Bill's catalog of 300+ songs has earned cover spots on albums by Nanci Griffith, Peter Paul and Mary, Tommy Makem and Liam Clancy and hundreds of other artists. Bill has released 26 albums and played 50 states over the past 5 decades. He has traveled over 3 million miles before coming to play for you tonight. Join with Bill on the great choruses to: “Roseville Fair,” “River,” “Child of Mine” and “Wild, Wild Heart.”

Composer David Amram recently described Bill as "a modern day Stephen Foster…his songs will be around 100 years from now."

But WAIT...there's MORE! Brandi and I are proud to introduce the Good Folk Coffeehouse audience to our Grandson, Alex Martin, who will be opening for Bill Staines on Sunday, Dec. 1st. Here is a link to his website: www.iamalexmartin.com

We are delighted to be presenting two singer-songwriters whose careers span over 3 generations of fans, and whose music reaches people in unique and heartfelt ways.

A child of Los Angeles and of New York City, Alex is an extremely talented singer-songwriter and guitar player, who puts his whole heart into his songs.

Alex’s latest EP, “No Finish Lines" was written, produced, instrumented, mixed, and mastered by himself. This spontaneous yet eclectic five song journey showcases the variety of styles that are all distinct, yet connected under the overly vague yet still familiar sound which opens up a genre that marries R&B, Pop, and Rock into "Pop Soul”.

Alex’s EP is available on all global major music streaming platforms.

"His music is an experience and seeing him live is surreal. Very powerful voice, not only with his singing but what he has to say." ~ Ray Negron, NY Yankees Community Outreach Exec.

Here are the details of our event, doors open at 3:00, no advance tickets necessary.  Open mic sign-up 3:30, open mic 4:00 to 4:30, Alex Martin 4:30 to 5:00, short break, then Bill Staines presenting one long set, roughly 90 min., with lots of singing along on the choruses!
