Norwalk Symphony Announces Young Artists Festival Concerto Competition

Young Artists Festival Concerto Competition

The Norwalk Symphony Orchestra will host its 8th Annual Young Artists Festival Concerto Competition on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 2:00pm in the Norwalk Concert Hall. The Concerto Competition is open to talented young artists in Fairfield County and is open to all instrumentalists through high-school. Finalists are chosen based on taped submission prior to the event.

This year, nine gifted finalists will perform their works for a panel of three judges. The instruments represented range from violin and cello, to piano and flute. The public is invited to attend the Concerto Finals and enjoy the inspiring talent of these young artists who come from Fairfield, New Canaan, Riverside, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton, CT, and South Salem, NY. The winner of the competition will perform their concerto movement live with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra during its Music for All Ages Concert on Sunday, March 22, 2020 at 3:00pm. “The primary purpose of this festival is to give young musicians the chance to perform as part of the Fairfield County musical community. It is rare to have the opportunity to perform a concerto movement with a professional orchestra in a subscription concert as a young artist,” says former event-chair Rebecca Christopherson.
