Rowayton Arts Center “Marine & Coastal Art” Exhibition Opens September 13

A new show by exhibiting members at the Rowayton Arts Center (RAC), “Marine & Coastal Art,” will be on view September 13 through October 10, 2020. The opening reception is free and open to the public with limited admission and no refreshments (BYOB) on Sunday, September 13 from 4 pm to 6 pm.

RAC gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm. The Chair for the exhibition is Dana Laird and the Co-chair is Gregg Welz. The judge, Brechin Morgan, is a native of Connecticut. His wanderlust began early when at sixteen he left high school to work and hang out in the bohemian atmosphere of Greenwich Village of the early sixties. He hitched across the country and through Mexico riding over 1,000 miles in railroad boxcars through the southwest. Returning he worked summers at the Windward Sailing School in Rowayton while attending Silvermine College of Art.

A family and reality came next and for over twenty years he ran Morgan Sign Company in Sono and painted many of the large outdoor murals in Norwalk. Brec is a Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists. He has had many solo and group shows and is represented by numerous galleries in New England.

RAC celebrates the study, creation and appreciation of the arts through classes, exhibitions and events open to all in the community. For almost 60 years, this nonprofit organization has been a cultural gem in Rowayton, CT. The gallery and art school overlook the scenic Five Mile River at 145 Rowayton Avenue with space for regional artists to exhibit their art and a classroom for workshops and classes at all levels offered to children and adults.
