“Ordinary People” by Nancy Gilsenan at Powerhouse Theatre, New Canaan

Top actors will wow you in this powerful play that explores the difficult issue of mental health. Based on the Oscar-winning movie, this story highlights the complex relationships of an ordinary family struggling to heal from an unexpected tragedy. 

Pedals, Pipes and Pizza + OrgelKids at United Methodist Church of Stratford

Saturday, February 18, 10:30 am - 12:30 pm

This event is for children ages 8 and above who are currently taking music lessons and would like to learn about the organ. The Orgelkids organ is a mechanical, two rank pipe organ in a box. Children will build this organ, learn about it, and play it.

Drawing with Huck Scarry at Fairfield Museum

So exciting! Families and friends of all ages are invited to join Huck Scarry, Richard Scarry’s son, for a drawing session. Learn how to draw the iconic Busytown characters in this special program that celebrates “The Road to Busytown: Richard Scarry’s Life in Fairfield County.”

Head to Stamford for the annual new member exhibit opening titled, “Vision/s,” featuring the work of Hasnat Mehmood and Suzanna Schlemm - two quite different artists, with imaginative and distinct creative processes.

Artists’ Collective of Westport Winter Exhibit at Gordon Fine Arts, Westport

Wow! SIXTY FIVE Connecticut artists come together for one great exhibit opening! Each artist has one or two pieces in this comprehensive view of the activity of the Artists Collective. Exhibit on view through March 19.

Music at MoCA: Talisk at MoCA Westport

One of the most in-demand folk-based groups to emerge from Scotland in the last decade are coming to town! Mohsen Amini (BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards Musician of the Year), Graeme Armstrong and Benedict Morris (BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year) fuse concertina, guitar and fiddle to produce a ground-breaking, multi-layered signature that has captivated audiences around the globe. At its core, three seemingly acoustic instruments – but in the hands of three master craftsmen; one unmistakable, bold sound and captivating live show. Arrive early to explore the exhibition and to purchase delicious food and drinks.

 “Can We Talk” at City Lights Gallery, Bridgeport

Enjoy an opening reception for this collaborative exhibit designed and curated by Iyaba Ibo Mandingo with support from City Lights Gallery. The artists present work that reflects a range of questions and comments that are relevant to the social pandemic of the recent years. At the opening, attendees will be asked to anonymously submit questions that will then be read and discussed. Facilitated by Iyaba Ibo Mandingo and Rev. Ina Anderson. Exhibit on view through Mar 10th.

Remember Jones: Songs About Jane Project at FTC’s StageOne, Fairfield

Come to the new show honoring what Billboard calls “one of the best-performing 21st-century albums,” the Songs About Jane project celebrates the 20th anniversary of Maroon 5’s debut album in a new, high-energy music event. Acclaimed producer and entertainer Remember Jones and a 10-piece band of rotating musicians and guests revisit the entire album and more, breathing new life into the songs and storytelling that put Maroon 5 on the map.

Ridgefield Folk presents a quartet whose members hail from CT & NY. They've been performing in the area for 20+ years. As individual musicians, they've won numerous instrumental awards, and as a group they're noted for being one of the top bluegrass bands in the area. Banjo, mandolin, guitar and upright bass are all acoustic, and the band sparkles with drive and energy. A unique blend of bluegrass old & new, flavored with country & swing, sizzling with hot instrumentals and sweet harmonies. Their vocal and instrumental repertoire ranges from country-flavored Patsy Cline, to traditional bluegrass Bill Monroe, to jazz standards, as well as their own originals.
