Connecticut Guitar Festival at MoCA Westport

Don’t miss the Guitar Festival of the year! Organized by Suzuki Music Schools of Westport & Orange, this festival kicks off with two masters of the guitar performing in a beautiful gallery space. The concert features contemporary guitarist Jordan Dodson and classical guitarist Rene Izquierdo. Dodson is described by Performance Today as “one of the top young guitarists of his generation,” and Izquierdo, one of the world’s classical guitar virtuosos was described in Classical Guitar Magazine as playing with “unforgettable versatility, sensitivity and sublime musicianship”.

All Things Equal – The Life and Trials of Ruth Bader Ginsburg” at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Celebrate Women’s History month in Ridgefield. This award-winning one-woman play, starring Michelle Azar, peeks into RBG’s life and many trials. Written by Tony Award-winning playwright Rupert Holmes. From losing her mother the day before she graduated as valedictorian of her Brooklyn high school, to fighting for women’s rights in the 1970s, to taking courageous stands for human rights, this play will prove why RBG is not only “notorious” but victorious as she takes a stand for ordinary people facing the many challenges of a changing world.

“Creative Color Puppets” Workshop at The Norwalk Art Space

Sat, March 4, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Come create your own finger or hand puppet made of colorful felt shapes in a supportive and creative community setting. It’s a free community workshop led by Volunteer Coordinator Patricia Kurowski. All ages are welcome to experiment but kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Speakeasy Jazz Club at Westport Museum & History Center

Sat, March 4, 7:00 - 11:00 pm

Step back in time when the Jazz Age's smartest set partied at underground jazz clubs in rowdy downtown Westport. As part of the Connecticut Guitar Festival, celebrate and support the work of Westport Museum and Suzuki Music School by bringing history to life. Come in costume and pose with the vintage photobooth! Enjoy the smooth tunes of Guitar Festival artists and sip vintage cocktails. Try your hand at six different casino games with all proceeds going to support these two local non-profits.

GCTYO Winter Concerts at Klein Auditorium, Bridgeport

See and hear all 14 Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras ensembles as they perform their annual show. At 1pm: orchestral and band music includes violist Devin Cowan playing the Stamitz Viola Concerto, plus music by Florence Price, Scott Joplin, Stevie Wonder, Shostakovich, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Mahler. At 3:30pm, the spotlight is on steel pan, jazz, winds, and full orchestra, playing Sviridov’s Snowstorm Suite, Bizet’s Farandole, the Pink Panther theme, and more. And at 6pm: enjoy advanced steel pan and jazz, and the principal orchestra, guest conducted by Harvey Felder, with Solomiya Ivakhiv playing Violin Concerto #2 by Florence Price, Herold’s Zampa Overture, and the last movement of Sibelius Symphony #2.

“Scaredy Kat Presents” at Westport Country Playhouse

A wonderful event for the whole family! It’s the story of eleven-year-old Kathryn who is paralyzed by social anxiety. Estranged from her classmates, Kat spends all her time in her basement with her two passions: Alfred Hitchcock and stop-motion animation. When her attempt to win a trip to Hitchcock’s old film set falls apart, she is sent a possible gift with the arrival of the new neighbor, Nadia, whose interest in art could be the secret to Kathryn’s success. 

Kimberly Wilson: A Musical One-Woman Show at The Ridgefield Library

A little song. A little movement. A little dialogue. This award-winning creator, actor and singer, captures the historical experience of Black women in America. Her show tells stories about women like Harriet Tubman, Sojourner Truth, Rosa Parks and more - all women who had the courage to make their dreams a reality that not only elevated their own lives, but also helped lay the foundation for future generations. Kimberly brings these characters, and their triumphs and truths to life. Includes an audience talkback.

Croce Plays Croce at SHU Community Theatre, Fairfield

It’s a special night of music featuring a complete set of Jim Croce classics by his son. This special event features such timeless songs as “Operator,” “You Don’t Mess Around with Jim,” “Time in a Bottle” (a song written for A.J.),“ and more. 

Western CT Youth Orchestra Winter Concert at the David F. Clune Auditorium of Wilton High School

Enjoy the 2023 WCYO concert featuring the Orchestra’s wind ensemble, string orchestra, symphony orchestra and soloist, Francesca Rossi of Ridgefield, winner of the 2023 WCYO Concerto Competition. Performances include “Colonial Dances,” by Florence Price, “Jubilee from Symphonic Sketches,” by George W. Chadwick, “The White Peacock,” by Charles T. Griffes, “Hoe Down” from Rodeo by Aaron Copland, “Night in the Tropics,” from Symphony No. 1 by Louis M. Gotschalk, and Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor.

Ivy League of Comedy: J-L Cauvin / Ryan Reiss / Shaun Eli at FTC’s StageOne, Fairfield

Need a laugh? Head to Fairfield for some comic relief. J-L Cauvin has performed on The Late Late Show, The Howard Stern Show, and The Adam Carolla Show.
