Person-to-Person Awarded Two Grants by United Way of Coastal Fairfield County

United Way of Coastal Fairfield County has awarded two 2017 Neighbors Helping Neighbors Grants to Person-to-Person – $10,000 for the Emergency Assistance Program and $9,000 to for the Norwalk Food Pantry.

In the award letter, United Way noted its commitment to closing the opportunity gap so children and families in the most challenged communities can thrive. “We recognize that providing wrap-around supports that provide a stable and safe home, enough food, personal care items and clothing are all essential to a child’s success.” United Way acknowledges that too many of the children and families in this area continue to live in poverty.

According to P2P Executive Director Ceci Maher, the agency’s ongoing partnership with United Way of Coastal Fairfield County is an important element of its ability to help the individuals and families that come to P2P for assistance. “These grants help us provide financial assistance for security deposits and utility payments and purchase produce, meats and staples for the Food Pantry. As we work to provide a pathway out of poverty for P2P clients, we are grateful to United Way of Coastal Fairfield County for helping us meet the immediate needs of people in our community.”
