ARTWORKS Gallery presents Ellen Gordon’s CRAZY TOWN, a new collection of collage and acrylic paintings and Lina Morielli’s ETHEREAL STATES, her most recent series of oil paintings. Both artists will also be exhibiting recent monoprints. Join the artists on Sunday, July 21 from 2 – 4 pm for the opening reception.
Ellen Gordon is a mixed media artist whose work speaks about the creative magic that happens when inspiration and form collide into compositions that layer and bury the obvious. Her new series, “CRAZY TOWN”, relies on past drawings and overlapping shape imagery of prior paintings as the basis for each successive piece created; each one takes off where the other ended.

Lina Morielli’s paintings are intended to evoke a sense of otherworldliness. The use of color contrast, positive and negative themes and rendered forms create both a highly structured and ethereal quality. The basis for the series, “ETHEREAL STATES”, emanates from one of her many sketchbooks.
Lina is a graduate of Parson’s School of Design. As an artist/art activist she has been involved in many aspects of the local art scene in Stamford since 1987. She was President of the Loft Artists Association and has received grants to create and teach many after school and summer camp art enrichment programs. For the past 15 years she has curated the Mayor’s Gallery in Stamford. Her award winning work has been exhibited locally and nationally and is also included in many permanent collections including the State Superior Court House, Yale Medical Center/Bridgeport, CT and Sacred Heart University, College of Education and Healthcare to name a few.
