Norwalk Hospital Association Announces New Board Leadership

Mark Gudis of Westport announced as new chair; Amy Schafrann of Westport as vice chair; and the addition of Patricia S. Bam of Wilton as a new director          

                                             

As the Norwalk Hospital Association (NHA) prepares to celebrate its 125th Anniversary, it is proud to announce the appointment of Mark Gudis of Westport as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors. Mr. Gudis succeeds Edward Mahony who completed his term as Chairman. The NHA also announced the appointment of Amy Schafrann of Westport as Vice Chair, and the addition of Patricia S. Bam of Wilton to the Board of Directors.

Mr. Gudis is a Managing Partner at Backcast Partners Management LLC, a private capital investment fund with offices in New York City, Milford New Jersey and Los Angeles. Over the last 30 years, he has been a partner, senior investment professional and senior executive at several of the world’s leading investment firms including SAC Capital Advisors, The Blackstone Group and General Electric Capital. 

“Mark’s leadership will provide the organization with the continued, invaluable support that is necessary to advance our mission of providing a wide array of high quality, patient-centered health care services,” shared Michael Daglio, President of Norwalk Hospital.

Mr. Gudis is a member of the Board of Directors for Western Connecticut Health Network, Chairman of WCHN’s investment committee, and a member of the Finance Committee, in addition to being a member of Norwalk Hospital’s Board of Trustees since 2012. He is a 1985 graduate of the University of Southern California (USC) and a long-time member of the Board of Advisors for the USC Marshall School of Business.

“My wife and I raised our family in this community and it means a great deal to us. I am so honored to have this opportunity to serve as chairman of the Board of Directors of Norwalk Hospital and look forward to supporting the organization’s mission, vision and values of providing exceptional care,” shared Mark Gudis.

Mr. Gudis and his wife MaryGrace, a member of Norwalk Hospital’s Foundation Board, have resided in Westport for the last 20 years and they have three grown children.

Amy Schafrann is chair of the Norwalk Hospital Board Development Committee and a member of the WCHN Strategic Planning Committee.  Working with the Norwalk Hospital Foundation staff, she was the founder of the Circle of Caring/Grateful Patients Program. Mrs. Schafrann also started a Teen Advisory Board to engage high school students and teams in the annual Whittingham Cancer Center Walk/Sally’s Run when she co-chaired the event several years ago.

Mrs. Schafrann is President of College Strategy Horizons LLC, a college consulting firm which she founded ten years ago.  Prior to College Strategy Horizons, she was Managing Partner, at Yankelovich for 20 years where she managed the consulting group, marketing, and custom and syndicated research services. Prior to Yankelovich, Mrs. Schafrann was Senior Vice President, Director of Marketing Research and Strategic Planning at Bozell Advertising in New York for eight years. Advertising Age selected Mrs. Schafrann as one of the "100 Best and Brightest Young People in Advertising", and the YWCA of New York City elected her to the Academy of Women Achievers. She has also served on the Board of the American Marketing Association in New York City.

Mrs. Schafrann graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a dual degree in Marketing Research and Sociology with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She lives in Westport with her husband Richard and they have two grown daughters.

Patricia S. Bam is Vice Chair of the Riverbook Regional YMCA, Treasurer of the Cystic Fibrosis Project Inc., and a member of the Norwalk Hospital Development Committee, Western Connecticut Health Network (WCHN) Investment Committee, WCHN Finance Committee, and Kennedy’s Rosary Project, which knots rosaries for Norwalk Hospital.

Mrs. Bam is Chief Financial Officer at Foster & Foster, LLC, a fourth-generation family investment company headquartered in Wilton. A graduate of Pace University, she also served as Controller at a Greenwich family office, and held other management and staff positions at various public accounting firms throughout her career in finance.

Mrs. Bam resides in Wilton with her husband Eric and they have two children.
