Winners Announced at the Rowayton Arts Center

Winners from the exhibition,“Beyond Brushwork, were announced at the Rowayton Arts Center on Sunday. Amy Schott (Wilton) won Best in Show as well as the Gale Parsons Memorial Award. Her piece, “Twisted in Color, was created from tiny pieces of paper from packaging materials.

The judge, Laura G. Einstein, Principal of LGE Fine Art Consulting, said of her piece, “Without a doubt, Amy Schott’s masterful use of thin colorful strips creates a composition that decisively communicates what it means to be beyond brushwork.” Commenting on the entire exhibition, Ms. Einstein added, “I was struck by the diversity of technique, imagery and displays of talent.” Categories in the show are digital art, drawings, mixed media, paper cuts, pastels and prints. The exhibition chair is Diane Weeks and co-chair is Britt Bair. The other award winners include:

Award winning artist Pierre Lahaussois has a solo show in the Portside Gallery. Both exhibitions will be on view until Saturday, February 24.

The Spring Juried Show, opening March 4, is an open call to all artists. Check the website for details.

For almost 60 years, the Rowayton Arts Center has been a cultural gem in the community. It is an exceptional gallery where regional artists may exhibit and sell their art as well as a wonderful venue for art workshops and classes.
