Norwalk Grassroots Tennis was established in 1996 with the mission to build strength of character and a foundation for success for underserved youth through tennis and education. The group’s goal is to ensure its children are on a path toward success on the court, in the classroom and in life.

All programs hosted by NGTE are free. It provides services to children ages 5-18 who qualify for free and reduced-price lunch in order to reach kids who wouldn’t otherwise have the opportunity to participate in high-quality after school, summer or weekend programming.
NGTE received the highest ranking from the U.S. Tennis Association for excellence in academic and tennis programming for 2017-18, as 100 percent of its seniors graduated high school and rose to the next grade level in school. Also, 100 percent of its students enrolled in the Summer Education & Enrichment Camp improved in at least one of the three core subjects (math, reading, and science).
