Volunteers Remove Over 3,700 lbs. of Debris from Norwalk River Valley Trail

Over fifty volunteers gathered for a cleanup on April 11th on the Norwalk River Valley Trail (NRVT). The cleanup was conducted on a half-mile stretch of the NRVT along the Norwalk River from Broad Street to Route 123.

The volunteers came from groups including the Norwalk Redevelopment Agency, Norwalk River Valley Trail, Norwalk Watershed Association, Grace Farms and Frontline Marketing. Norwalk’s Department of Public Works pitched in by hauling away the 3,700 lbs. of debris, including eight auto tires and a Freon device.

Jim Carter, the NRVT’s town leader for Norwalk said; “It’s really inspiring to see how much good work can be accomplished by a committed group of volunteers. This stretch of the NRVT along the Norwalk River is now more beautiful and user-friendly as a result of this major cleanup.”
