When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Norwalk.
Meet Norwalk resident Andrew Dominick, a local writer, editor, food blogger, and photographer.
How does creativity connect you to Norwalk?
That’s an easy one! I’m a food writer and photographer, so I’m always interested in the local art scene here. As a result, I’ve gotten to know a bunch of creative people, mural artists, tattoo artists, taggers, musicians, and even chefs! Places like Mad Lab and Rene Soto Gallery are constantly having pop-up shops, theme nights, or artist showcases. They’re great for the city.
Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?
Food Rescue US. They “rescue” fresh ingredients from restaurants and the like that would otherwise be thrown out. That rescued food ends up in the hands of people in Fairfield County who are food insecure, meaning they don’t know where their next meal is coming from. We waste entirely too much food in this country and a non-profit like Food Rescue helps cut down on that. I’d urge to check out their website, volunteer, and when it’s possible again, attend their annual Food For All fundraiser.

the new art park in Isaac Square. It’s right off Wall Street and there are a bunch of murals, some inspirational, some are tribute pieces, and all are created by local artists. The pieces are mind-blowing! Check out some of the artwork on Instagram @norwalkctmurals but better yet, come on down for a stroll sometime! Shout-out to developer Jason Milligan for attempting to bring some life into a part of our city that desperately needs it. Way back when Wall Street was Norwalk’s downtown area. I’m all for anything that gets people here. There’s a long way to go in that area but this is a step in the right direction.
